At first, it seems like we’re held captive by emotions. Anger, fear, sorrow, and even ecstasy seem to rule us when we experience these sensations. However, the mind–as in the mindful mind–knows that feelings are temporary states of being. There is only THE mind. The ONE in which we all inhabit that is the constant source of peace.
Human emotion, when housed by a mind and body united by a loving sense of soul (or god or spirit or whatever you want to call it) helps guide our actions. Guide. Not dictate.
We must use mind to observe emotion. Otherwise, we’re totally screwed.
